Cal JafraSummary: In the heart of the town Sant Jaume dels Domenys, the house Cal Jafra offers rooms for lodging and catering in an oasis far from city life. The entire house is rented and is ideal for groups and families that do not mind sharing bathrooms.

Built about 150 years ago, the Cal Jafra house offers rural lodging and catering for families and groups. The property has the capacity for 17 to 23 people. We arrived in the late afternoon of a day spent cava tasting, visiting a museum and a lunch that required an afternoon nap. We learned that our room would be on the third floor and our luggage was already on the second floor. We moved our luggage to the top floor up a narrow stairway and selected one of the three bedrooms on this floor. Two of the bedrooms had double beds and the larger bedroom had three single beds. There was also a living room space on our floor and a shared bathroom. One other couple shared the bathroom taking the other room with a double bed.

Cal JafraOur room was cottage-like with a stone wall at the head of the bed. A wood beamed ceiling offered contrasting colors to the light color of the stone. A sole window offered some light and just a bit of airflow. The room was small for two people and difficult to work in. The living room on the third floor, though, was spacious and there was plenty of seating and a television. We rested for a bit and then proceeded to the first floor for a group dinner.

Cal JafraTraditional Catalan foods and cavas awaited our dinner that took place outside under a covered space. Mood lighting created an elegant space adjacent to the blue lit swimming pool. We started the evening with cava and mingled with the invited dinner guests. There were many courses throughout the evening paired with different cavas. The small dishes made it possible to sample all the foods even though we had a multi-course lunch just a few hours earlier.

Cal JafraThe house Cal Jafra is ideal for families and family events such as reunions. Small business groups may also like the rural aspect of the house.
