Title: Caldo Verde (a Portuguese Soup Recipe)


1 Liter (4 1/4 cups) of Water
225g (1/2 pound) of Potatoes
250g (slightly more than 1/2 pound) of Green Cabbage
1 Teaspoon of Coarse Salt
1 or 2 Deciliter (slightly less than 1/2 cup to slightly less than 1 cup) of Olive Oil (good quality, low acid – 0,5º)
4 Slices of Chorizo


1. Make a pan with the water and salt boil, when it starts to boil put the potatoes peeled and cut in pieces.
2. When the potatoes are cooked crush them and put them back in the water, add the cabbage very finely cut.
3. Add the oil and let everything boil during 2 or 3 minutes, with the pan uncovered so the cabbage becomes really green.
4. Serve hot, in a bowl adding the 4 slice of chorizo for taste.
